Security in Kashmir Tightened Following Pahalgam Terror Attack; Terror Hideout in Poonch Busted; Pakistan Continues Cross-Border Firing

Massive crackdown in progress throughout South Kashmir; terror hideout busted in Poonch, while Pakistan continues ceasefire violations on LoC for 11th straight day.
Following the recent terrorist strike in Pahalgam, the security forces have initiated intensified operations in South Kashmir. The Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Special Operations Group (SOG) are carrying out widespread search and surveillance operations in forests and areas that are weak points, employing drones and real-time video monitoring to monitor terrorist movements.
A major success was made late last night in Poonch district’s Surankote tehsil’s Marhot sector. During a combined operation, Army, Police, and SOG have busted a terrorist hideout. Five Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), a wireless set, and apparel have been recovered by security forces from the place. The materials have been taken into custody for forensic analysis, and the authorities are trying to ascertain the terrorist organization operating the hideout.
Search operations have been especially intensified in eight major areas of the Kashmir Valley: Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama, Tral, Sopore, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora.
Concurrently, Pakistan has persisted with its unprovoked ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC), shelling Indian posts for the 11th straight day. The last bout of fire erupted on the night of May 4-5, 2025, in various sectors such as Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Nowshera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor. Indian Army retaliated in a prompt and effective manner to the aggression, as per the Ministry of Defence.
Given Pakistan’s persistent aggressive measures, the government of India has taken a number of firm actions. These encompass the expulsion of Pakistani citizens, shutting down the Atari-Wagah border, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, banning Pakistani air transport from flying over Indian skies, and severing all commercial and cultural relationships between the two countries.
