Delhi Air Quality Hits Hazardous Zone Again: AQI Surges to 358, High in Industrial Areas

Despite being the second-cleanest post-Diwali since 2015, Delhi’s air is still hazardous, with an AQI of 358. In contrast, Mumbai has substantially superior air quality, with an AQI of 141.

The National Capital Region and Delhi woke on Wednesday to a thick shroud of smog. Though Delhi enjoyed its second-cleanest post-Diwali air since 2015, it remained in the ‘hazardous’ zone, the AQI being in the ‘poor’ category. At 7 am on Wednesday, November 6, Delhi had an AQI of 358. In contrast to it, the air of the country’s financial capital was much cleaner, with the AQI at 141 and classified as ‘moderate’.

AQI readings from 0 to 50 are designated as ‘good’, 51 to 100 are designated as ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 are designated as ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 are designated as ‘poor’, 301 to 400 are designated as ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 are designated as ‘severe’.

The weather did make for cleaner air in Mumbai, with across some localities experienced the cleanest air. BMC in Shastri Nagar, Abhinav Nagar Borivali (E), Sector 19(A) in Nerul and others reported an AQI of zero at 7 am.
