Requests Prime Minister’s Office to Ensure a Time-Bound Investigation into an Alleged Organised Telegram Phishing Operation and Initiate Strict Legal Action Against the Culprits
New Delhi: Alleging that he was the victim of an organised cybercrime, Dr. Bhargav Mallappa, National President (Youth) of the Akhil Bharatiya Gau Raksha Mahasangh, has moved the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). In his representation, he has called for a fair, transparent, and time-bound investigation into an alleged targeted phishing attack conducted through Telegram, urging authorities to identify and take strict legal action against the perpetrators.
In his representation, Dr. Mallappa stated that he had already lodged a complaint on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal, which has been acknowledged by the Cyber Police Station, New Delhi District, under Acknowledgement No. 22904260036238.
According to the representation, on 11 April 2026, Dr. Mallappa received a suspicious Telegram link bearing the identifier “RAGINBHARGAVBHARGAV.” He further claimed that the identical link was simultaneously sent to the mobile phones of his wife and his brother-in-law. Dr. Mallappa alleged that this was not an ordinary case of online fraud but a well-planned and targeted phishing attack aimed at compromising their personal information, digital devices, and financial credentials.
In the representation, Dr. Mallappa has alleged that a person identified as Suresh BP, whose PAN number is BNOPS1204A, has emerged in connection with the matter. He stated that all relevant digital evidence, including phishing links, screenshots of Telegram conversations, and identity-related documents concerning the suspect, has already been uploaded to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
In his letter to the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr. Mallappa stated that the growing incidence of organised cybercrime through digital platforms poses a serious threat to citizens’ privacy, financial security, and public confidence in India’s digital ecosystem. He stressed that such cases require better coordination among law enforcement agencies and prompt action to curb organised cyber fraud.
He has requested the Prime Minister’s Office to take cognisance of the matter and direct the concerned authorities to ensure a fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation. He has also sought strict legal action against those responsible under the provisions of the Information Technology Act, 2000, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and other applicable laws.
Additionally, Dr. Mallappa has urged the government to strengthen India’s cyber security framework, enhance public awareness against phishing attacks, and improve coordination among investigative agencies to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Dr. Mallappa expressed confidence in the Government of India’s commitment to protecting citizens from cybercrime and strengthening the country’s cybersecurity ecosystem. He said he hopes the Prime Minister’s Office will take appropriate steps to ensure justice and safeguard public interest.
