Environmental Sustainability and Energy Conservation Must Be Everyone’s Priority, Says MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat
New Delhi: A high-level round-table discussion on India’s first Electric Vehicle (EV) Park was organised at MERI College, Janakpuri, where policymakers, industry experts and academic leaders discussed the future of electric mobility and sustainable transportation in India.
West Delhi MP Ms. Kamaljeet Sehrawat, the keynote speaker at the event, said environmental conservation and electricity saving should become a shared responsibility among citizens. She appealed to people to adopt simple energy-saving practices, including switching off electrical appliances when not in use, and stated that energy conservation plays an important role in national growth.
The event was organised by the International Federation of Electric Vehicle Associations (IFEVA) and MERI Group of Institutions to promote the development of India’s first EV Park and create a roadmap for strengthening the electric vehicle ecosystem.
Appreciating the initiative, MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat said the EV Park could play a crucial role in promoting green mobility. Delhi Police DCP Mr. Hareshwar Swami also praised the initiative and conveyed his best wishes to IFEVA and MERI.
Dr. Shailendra Saroj outlined the EV Park’s infrastructure and technical framework, while Mr. Sunil Bhatnagar discussed India’s EV policies and government initiatives to boost electric vehicle adoption.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Lalit Aggarwal said rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR and other parts of the country require sustainable solutions, adding that the EV Park could contribute towards environmental protection. Mr. IP Aggarwal stated that India’s electric mobility sector is expanding rapidly with the support of government policies, innovation and public participation.
The programme also featured insights from Dean Dr. Deepshikha Kalra on MERI College’s achievements and vision. Dr. Rajeev Mishra, President of IFEVA, along with representatives from the EV industry and academic sector, attended the discussion.
During the concluding session, Lt. General PJS Pannu (Retd.) discussed the future prospects of electric vehicles in India. Participants exchanged views on EV adoption, clean energy solutions and strategies to build a sustainable mobility ecosystem.
