New Delhi: In a proactive step beyond its legal responsibilities, the Department of Legal Affairs, under the Ministry of Law and Justice, organised a blood donation camp at Shastri Bhawan on Wednesday, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society. The initiative comes ahead of World Blood Donor Day, observed globally on June 14.
Law Secretary Dr. Anju Rathi Rana was present at the event and urged officials to view blood donation not merely as an act of goodwill but as a civic duty. The camp saw enthusiastic participation from senior officers, staff members, and a significant number of women employees.
Aligned with this year’s global theme — “Give Blood, Give Hope: Together We Save Lives” — the drive served as a timely reminder of the role regular, voluntary blood donation plays in strengthening the nation’s healthcare infrastructure.
More than a symbolic gesture, the initiative contributed directly to the country’s blood reserves and reflected how government departments can engage with the public in meaningful and impactful ways.
By hosting the camp, the Department of Legal Affairs sent a strong message about the value of institutional leadership in promoting social causes, demonstrating that legal bodies too can play a vital role in saving lives.
