Delhi Para Swimming Championship 2026: 150+ Swimmers Compete

Over 150 Divyang swimmers competed in the Delhi Para Swimming Championship 2026 at Talkatora Stadium as athletes prepared for national competition.

New DelhI: Delhi’s para swimming talent took centre stage at Talkatora Stadium as more than 150 Divyang swimmers participated in the 4th Delhi State Para Swimming Championship 2026 on Sunday.

The Divyang Para Sports Association of Delhi (DPSA), affiliated with the Paralympic Committee of India, conducted the championship at the Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Swimming Pool Complex. The state-level event brought swimmers from different categories together to compete and gain experience ahead of national-level events.

Delhi Minister Ashish Sood attended the championship as the Chief Guest. Devesh Chandra Srivastava, IPS, Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order), and Niharika Bhatt, IPS, DCP (North Delhi), attended as Guests of Honour.

Addressing the athletes, Sood highlighted the importance of determination, discipline and hard work in para sports. He said the Delhi Government wanted to create an inclusive sporting environment where athletes could access opportunities to train, compete and perform at higher levels.

The minister also congratulated the swimmers and said competitions at the state level could help athletes prepare for national and international championships.

Parul Singh, President of DPSA Delhi, said the championship served as an important competitive platform for para swimmers ahead of the upcoming national swimming competition. She also pointed to the participation of more than 150 athletes as a sign of growing interest in para swimming in Delhi.

The championship allowed swimmers and coaches to interact with sporting stakeholders and encouraged wider participation in para sports. Organisers said consistent state-level competitions could help identify emerging talent and build a stronger pipeline of athletes for national championships.

Devesh Chandra Srivastava praised the swimmers for their commitment and encouraged them to continue working towards their sporting goals. Niharika Bhatt also congratulated the participants and organisers and underlined the importance of inclusive sporting opportunities.

The 4th Delhi State Para Swimming Championship ended with a clear focus on developing para swimming talent in Delhi and helping athletes prepare for upcoming national competitions.
